Hello my name is Audrey Haney I am an artist, from the outskirts of the picturesque village of Fletching in East Sussex.
I am lucky to have grown up around animals from the moment I was born, my family was self sufficient and owned a smallholding. There were plenty of fields, woods and rivers to play in, which I did most the time. I had little time for dolls, but plenty of time for paint and brushes. I’ve always had an interest in art, learning to paint before I could walk I think! I still remember painting the front door step in pretty colours and got into so much trouble with my parents.
I have always liked to paint the wildlife around me and took great interest in birds. I take an active part in the BTO (The British Trust for Ornithology promotes bird conservation through volunteer-based surveys) and was a member of the RSPB for many years. It was my father who encouraged me to set up a small gallery in the local Inn in the village of Fletching when I was about 19 years old. Everyone said that no one sells anything the first time, I sold three pictures! Since then I have painted commissions for friends and clients throughout the UK. All my work is original, nothing really has been done twice. You will get a one off unique piece of artwork.
I would like to thank my mum for the sunshine she has always given to me, and for the fond happy memories that my dad gave to me.
I would like to thank my friends, and they know who they are, who have stood by me, encouraged me and supported me.
I would like to also thank Tim & Tara for making my dream a reality by creating PaintingSussex.co.uk
